About

My name is Daisy and I'm an Australian living in New York City. I love the city and the people here. I work freelance as an animator and illustrator and am having a blast doing it. I'm a lucky girl.

I use this blog for my artwork as well as thoughts, photos and just anything in general that I like.

My first mini moo cards. I was won over before I even opened the box!

Last night I got to do one of those things you always wish you could do, but never think will happen. I met Henry Selick, director of one of my favourite films The Nightmare Before Christmas. He also directed Coraline and is on a small promotional tour. Larisa won tickets and we got to sit second row and I got to experience one of the most inspirational nights I’ve had in a long time.
When you meet a person you pretty much idolise and want to be one day, it’s a pretty crazy feeling. I became a huge fangirl. But I did get to go up to him at the end of the evening and tell him Jack Skellington is my favourite animated character. He didn’t simply reply with a thank you, he gave me a whole explanation how he is told he moves like Jack and he acted out many of my favourite Jack moments for the animators.
And then he said he liked my shoes. I’m one happy animator!

Ok, I’m going to have to look this one up. Amazing composition, it’s just a regular street, nothing fancy then your eye is drawn up and makes you looks twice.

I stumbled upon the beautiful concept art of Fantastic Mr. Fox. I’ll hopefully been seeing it soon. It looks stunning.

Another great screen cap from the day we bought my Harley. This is dad testing out the impact resistance of my helmet.

My favourite still so far.

..and so the chase to become the first digitally animated film nominated for Best Picture begins.
via Awards Daily.

I really hope Up gets a nod for best picture…it will be leaps and bounds for the medium if it does, showing that it doesn’t matter how a film is made, but how it is received by the audience. It’s all about story!
