Day Eighteen: Favorite non-warrior female character:
Felicity Fox is today’s pick…she’s a stronger female character than most “wife” characters as she stands up for herself and family however she needs Mr Fox to fight for her physically, hence the non-warrior role. She’s smart, stoic and strong willed…a very Wes Anderson mother character.

Sorry folks, had to take a break while film stuff got busy…but I’m back with a bang - Favorite female warrior character! Who other than Uma Thurman’s The Bride could take the cake on this one. I mean, the woman got SHOT IN THE HEAD and still managed to kick ass on all. My favourite moment is the whole wiggle toe sequence. It’s shot so well and even when we get taken away to the animated world of O-Ren Ishii we come back to Uma and wait for that toe to wiggle…knowing that it will but also willing it for her.

Day Sixteen: Favorite mother character:
I’ve been watching a bunch of That 70s Show lately thanks to Netflix and I just LOVE Kitty Forman. She’s so funny and silly and such a good mum and wife. I love her relationship with Eric, she’s nurturing an sometimes smothering, and her relationship with Red is one of my fav husband wife relationships. They’re fun to watch cause they have great banter and I love the scenes where they sneak off for sex. They’re playful but also very honest and hard on each other sometimes, especially for a sitcom, there are moments when Kitty just lays it all out there. I also love her love of the booze.
She’s just swell!

Day Fifteen: Favorite female character growth arc:
Peggy Olson from Mad Men is my pick for today. I think Peggy’s character has gone through so much from the beginning of the show where we met her her starting out as an assistant to becoming a copywriter, the first female to do so at the firm for a number of years, to now at the end of season 4 where she openly stands up and speaks out for herself and is on the forefront of women’s lib!

Day Fourteen: Favorite older female character:
So this may be considered a stretch as The Queen, Elizabeth II is an actual person and this is a biopic, I still choose her as one of my favorite older female characters. I loved this movie as having a British mum I know a lot about and am absolutely fascinated by the British monarch and their history. Here we got to see inside the life of a very private person, yet very public figure. I am probably biased as to why I liked this woman so much because I know all her backstory, my favorite factoid is that she was a mechanic in WW2. But I thought she was portrayed well in this film, she was struggling with the change in her people, something that she didn’t know how to deal with. I found that so interesting because well, she’s THE QUEEN. It made me realise that inheritance of the crown puts as much of a load on a person than if you are voted in because maybe you aren’t right for that job. I guess now it’s different since the prime minister has the political duties, but it’s still an interesting thought.
As a side note: when thinking about the character for this post I only thought about British actresses who all happen to be Dames. Who is your favorite older female character and is she British?!

Day Twelve: Favorite female character in a movie:
I’ve been stewing over this one for a while, and it’s just WAY TOO BROAD! So I decided to choose my favorite Disney character, specifically Disney not animated, and even that was hard…it was a toss up between Megara from Hercules and Jane from Tarzan. Jane one out because I just love her awkwardness. She’s so cute and British and shouldn’t be able to survive in the wild, but she did and outran those baboons for a long time before Tarzan comes along to save her. And yes, she ditches a lot of life for a boy but that doesn’t have to mean she’s weak…sometimes that is the right decision.
Meg gets a close runner up cause I love her sass an her tough girl act and in that one Hercules makes the sacrifices for her. Both of these girls are great Disney characters because they don’t have everything handed to them, they make mistakes and aren’t perfect. At least in my opinion.

Day Eleven: Favorite female character in a children’s show:
Clarissa Explains it All is a no brainer for me today. I wanted to be this girl so bad. I emulated her style, right down to drawing on my jeans in marker. I think this show had a lot to do with helping me find my own personal style, I thought outside the box cause Clarissa said it was OK to be weird. I vividly remember her doing a cheerleading routine in her front yard, spelling out W-E-I-R-D. Hrm…maybe it’s time to get the markers out again, I miss my nineties grunge attire!

Day Ten: Favorite female character in a scifi/supernatural show:
For this one, I’m dedicating it to all the women in Battlestar Galactica. Cause they are all awesome in their own way. Each of these women gave me an OMG yelling at the TV moment that enthralled me…yeah that was most of the entire series, but I couldn’t decide between any of these ladies. They all have flaws so are all relatable, they have a badass element that every woman wants to have and they have a lot of confidence, something a lot of women aspire to have. We watch each of them let their flaws throw massive obstacles in their paths, some not being able to overcome them. BSG women: You rock.

Day Nine: Favorite female character in a drama show:
For today I went with Juliet Burke from Lost. I liked her the most out of all the female characters on Lost because she always managed to be there for someone and help them, regardless of if she was trusted or if it was in her best interest. She was the helper. BUT she didn’t just roll over, she was also a fighter and sometimes had the walls up too high. I loved the fact she made Sawyer fall in love and it felt genuine (or at least I liked that duo so much, I didn’t care).
